The Indian Air Force (IAF) residential quarters in Chandigarh's Sector 31 and 47 are about to undergo a remarkable transformation as the decks have been cleared for their much-needed revamp. After a long-pending issue, a recent meeting, presided over by UT Home Secretary Nitin Yadav, has resulted in the resolution of various housing-related matters. Attended by IAF and Military Engineering Services (MES) officials, the meeting paved the way for the construction of approximately 192 houses in a time-bound manner. This ambitious venture will witness the replacement of old and dilapidated two-storey houses with modern, upgraded living spaces boasting state-of-the-art designs and high-quality materials.

Decks Cleared for Revamp: Sector 31 and 47 Quarters

A meeting, chaired by UT Home Secretary Nitin Yadav, successfully resolved the long-pending issue of reconstructing old and dilapidated Indian Air Force (IAF) residential quarters in Chandigarh's Sector 31 and 47. The meeting, attended by IAF and Military Engineering Services (MES) officials, addressed all housing-related matters and cleared the way for the construction of approximately 192 houses in a time-bound manner.

The revamped houses will undergo a complete transformation, with two-storey old houses being replaced by new ones featuring modern designs and the latest standards. The reconstruction will include the use of high-quality materials, such as granite and vitrified tiles instead of conventional chip flooring, and the addition of modular kitchens. Moreover, stilt parking plus two floors will be introduced to address parking concerns. The project, estimated to cost nearly Rs 150 crore, will adhere to the latest norms for construction and planning. The Military Engineering Services will oversee the construction process to ensure the successful completion of this ambitious venture.
